"Tilghman balances research with leadership"

"A world-renowned molecular biology scholar, Princeton University President Shirley Tilghman was one of five recipients of the L'Oreal-UNESCO international For Women in Science Award in 2002, and won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Developmental Biology in 2003. Before assuming the Princeton presidency in 2001, she taught courses in life sciences at the university for fifteen years. "
